Parenting Workshop makes a difference!

I won a yearlong custody battle of my autistic 8 year old son, which left me financially drained and emotionally beaten. I found myself living in a shelter with my son, excited to be safe as a family, but stressed over what to do now. With the partnership to bring resources to the shelter, I had the opportunity to participate in a Parenting Workshop by Northwest Family Services.

The facilitator, CarrieAnn, brought a lot of knowledge I was lacking regarding proper parenting methods and so many helpful things that now I feel energized and excited to put these practices into action.

As the classes continued I found myself moving away from my previous, and ineffective methods, mostly doing things out of habit or instinct. Now, I stop to think how this will effect my son and his unique needs. Our relationship and connection is growing stronger by the day.
-Bruce, 55 year old father of a special needs child
